The 2012 Fink Symposium features guest speaker Harry Gray, Arnold O. Beckman Professor of Chemistry and the Founding Director of the Beckman Institute at the California Institute of Technology.

Annual Departmental Conference
This years department conference will take place on September 14th, and promises to be an exciting day of science and social interactions. The venue this year will be the Pema Osel Ling retreat center, just outside Santa Cruz. This is a stunning venue, which should provide a great setting for the meeting. The schedule for the day will start with continental breakfast at 9, followed by the scientific portion at 9:45. Lunch and dinner will also be provided, followed by the famous departmental trivia quiz in the evening. The keynote speaker this year is Professor Sheila David from UC Davis. Professor David's interests are in the field of chemical biology, specifically with respect to elucidating functional, structural and clinical aspects of base excision repair.
