Disciplinary Communication Requirement

All students entering 2009 or later must satisfy a Disciplinary Communication requirement in addition to the requirements for their major. Courses used to satisfy the Disciplinary Communication requirement must be taken at UCSC. They cannot be transferred from another institution.

Use the chart below to determine which courses satisfy the Disciplinary Communication Requirement for your major:

Major Disciplinary Communication Courses
Chemistry BS & Chemistry BA Chemistry 151L, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, and one of Chemistry 146A, 146B, or 146C.
Chemistry BS with Biochemistry concentration

Chemistry 151L, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology 110L, Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory.

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology BS One of the following labs; BIOC 110L, BIOL 100L, 103L, 105L, 109L, 110L, 115L, 121L, 186L, or METX 119L.
